THE INSPIRATION
Jesus points at a tree and tells us to read it. Fig leaves are not the harvest. They are the notice that the harvest is close. Anyone who has grown anything knows the feeling of watching for that first tender branch, and knowing what it means before there is any fruit to prove it. This is a parable about paying attention. Most of what God is doing announces itself quietly, in leaves, long before it announces itself in fruit. Learn the tree, and you will know the season you are standing in.
