THE INSPIRATION
A dragnet does not choose. It takes everything in its path and the sorting happens later, on the beach, when the fishermen sit down and go through the catch by hand. That is the picture Jesus gives of the kingdom. The net is wide on purpose, and the sorting is not our job or our timing. It is easy to want the sorting early, especially about other people. This parable asks us to leave the shore to God, and to keep the net in the water.
