The Wedding Feast
"The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come."
— Matthew 22:2-3
THE INSPIRATION
The parable of the Wedding Feast is a picture of breathtaking generosity met with breathtaking rejection. The king throws open the doors — the table is set, the food is prepared, the invitation has gone out — and the guests simply don't come. So he sends his servants into the highways and hedges to bring in anyone who will accept. That's the Gospel. The feast is ready. The invitation is open. But not everyone will come, and not everyone who shows up will be found ready. This hat is a reminder that we are called to both receive the invitation and to be found worthy of it.
